Shelly, Brice Allen, pup, Brad
Just how lucky can one pup be. This sweet girl was living in a drain pipe on a major highway and for some reason
she didn't go into the highway. A nice lady called the sanctuary after seeing her every morning on the way to work.
S.N.A.S.set traps at each end of the pipe and this little girl out smarted them. So many people had stopped to help
her and no luck. Okay, now it was time to get the big guns. Our Mom went to the local fire station and asked for
their help. Well, begged is more like it. It was set for the next night at 5:30. Our Mom and Dad arrived with a crate
and waited. Talk about goose bumps when the sound of that huge fire truck and rescue squad came around the
corner. A trap was placed at one end the fire truck put a hose in the other end. The truck roared it's engine and
the water started shooting in the pipe. Now our Dad and Mr. Brice were on the end with the trap and at that moment
the pup put her head out and then dodged the trap and was slipping away. Our Dad got his coat caught on some
wire and couldn't jump. Mr. Brice jumped on that pup and grabbed her up. In the crate she went. Wow! The pup
was named Shelly after the paramedic "Shelly" said it was her birthday and it felt good doing something nice like
that. We made sure that their efforts for this pup did not go unrecognized. They received a letter from the
Governor, a letter from Doing Things for animals, a newspaper right up, and an article in Dog Fancy. Shelly was
adopted to one of the ladies that tried so hard to catch her. What a happy ending.
