Hey, I must be a great tour guide because you've made
it this far. Before we get started meeting the guys,
nows the time to go grab some coffee and tissues.
Some of the stories are pretty sad. I'll just sit here
and wait.
....................Hurry back! .............
Come on, I know you're still sitting there with no
tissues. Don't say I didn't warn you. Mascara is hard to
get off shirt sleeves. Okay you can borrow one of my
tissues.
Let's get started, WOOF!
This is Floyd and his owner had actually called the sanctuary wanting to dump him out because he had heart problems.
Well, when his owner was told they were full, he made a quote that he will just dump him out and hung up. Sure enough
two days later animal control called and they found a male Dobie wearing a harness in the middle of the highway. He
was taken to the vets where he was diagnosed with heart problems. This poor boy was so confused and yet so loving.
Floyd has stomach issues and bloated eight times yet never twisted so someone above was on his side knowing he
could never make it through surgery. At the age of 14 he suffered a stroke yet never gave up his will to live. I guess
you could say he was living on medications and the love he was surrounded by. Floyd lost his battle when he suddenly
dropped over. He brought so many smiles to everyone that met him. This boy would beat his front feet on the ground
while barking and would bow. He is surely missed.

Did you know that "Sheker" in Turkish means candy and this girl is sweet as her name. Sheker had a family that loved
her very much and one day her human little boy threw a tennis ball and it bounced into the road. Ouch, I just can't bear to
think of the pain she felt as a car ran over her back end. She could not stand and was crying in pain. The family had no
money so they dumped her off at the animal compound. So many hundreds of sad souls sat with no hope. Sheker never
received any medical help and her injuries were now permanent. They chained her to a dog house and she drug herself
in and out making sores on her legs. Her bladder was not expressed as needed in dogs with major spinal injuries which
left her with a horrible bladder infection. S.N.A.S. was contacted by a caring lady who asked if they could help her and of
course they agreed. This girl made the long flight and how scared she must have been. She was taken to the vet to be
spayed and can you believe she was pregnant! After her recovery from surgery she was taken to a specialist and he
reccommended leaving her back legs on for support and getting her a wheelchair. S.N.A.S. put out a plea for help and
thanks to the Tony Stewart Foundation they were able to get this girl one awesome set of wheels. Her legs have now
heeled and she has to stay on medications to help her.

Pom is a funny little girl that is the worlds best bugger. No bug is safe when this girl goes outside. If she can't find one in the
grass, she dig one up from somewhere. I think she would make a great exterminator. Pom came from a high kill
shelter and was very sickly. It took a long time and lots of medicines to make her better. Once she was all cleared up,
they found out she has some major heart issues going on. So hopefully the medications will help her to live for a long time.

What can I say about Axel. Well, whatever I say he won't care!!! He can't hear. Sometimes I just crack myself up.
Okay back to his story. This boy was just a tiny kitten of no more than 10 weeks old when a witness saw him on the
highway and a car actually went right over top of him and he spun off the side of the road. She raced to grab him up and he
was fine. Now they took him to the vet and had him neutered, vaccinated and the once over. What a great home he had
until they found out he was deaf. Can you believe they dumped him out because he meows too loud. So S.N.A.S. was
called and took this boy only to find out he is also feluk+, but that's okay because all the kitties her are positive.

I guess I'll just hop right to this story! This little toad was the victim of a weed eater and had deep cuts on his back and his
front foot missing. A little girl saw the sanctuaries information board at Walmart and called. She asked if they could please
help out a special animal that got hurt and S.N.A.S. agreed to help. This little guy showed up in a Linclon Navigator. That's
one rich toad! The girl named him "Three Foot Toad" and he was given the exact same medical treatment as any other
animal here. It has been two years and he continues to do great.
Wild Woody is his name and holding his pacifier is his game. Woody had a really bad start at life and was taken away from his
parents. He was held at animal control for a month until the court case was heard. The judge decided that neither of his parents
were fit to care for him and ordered him to be euthanized. Thank goodness a nice rescue man was already at the shelter and
just could not watch as they walked him to be killed. He called S.N.A.S. right away and this boy was saved. wild Woody has
some bad mental issues and can not be around the other dogs. He also had really bad demodex mange and had to have lots
of treatments. He has a toy that he holds in his mouth like a pacifier all the time. Woody is one that will benefit from the menatlly
challenged unit that is trying to be built.

Vallie came to S.N.A.S. after her owners took her to be spayed and found out she had feline leukemia. Instead of taking her back home
and looking for a place for her to go, they simply never came to pick her up at the end of the day. It's a good thing S.N.A.S. had the
room to take her or she would have been killed.
One eyed Jake is in a league all his own. Jake was rescued from a high kill shelter and given a home with kids and others dogs to play
with except when they found out he had issues, he was dumped. An email was sent around seeking a home for a young male Dobe
that was blind. Finally his owner contacted S.N.A.S. and begged them to help him. She said that other rescues told her to put him down
because he was blind. Hmmm! Now this did not sound right and as they say now we know the rest of the story. Our Dad met these
people and they said that he had to go because he chewed on the kids toys. Well, if he is blind then how would he know what not to chew
on. Then she said that he would gobble up his dinner and go to her other dogs dishes and they would attack him. Poor guy, he just
can't catch a break. Once at the sanctuary it was obvious he had to have one of his eyes removed due to glaucoma which is very
painful. His other eye was tested and he is 90% blind and would soon be totally blind. That's not all. Finally the real reason other groups
did not was him was obvious. One night all of us were awaken to horrible noises and this boy was having a grand mal seizure. When a
call was put in to his previous family, they said they did not know anything about it and never heard from them again. Jake has to stay on
seizure medication and they have been under control to one every two months. Jake is another one who would benefit from the mentally
challenged area that we need to build. He needs a smaller place that he can condition himself to where there are no changes so he can
get hurt.

Jimmy Durante got his name because he has the biggest nose on a cat we have ever seen. Ranny as we called him was a cat that
belonged to know one. He wandered up to a house that had another cat and decided to stay. A neighbors dog spotted him and it was on.
Poor boy was attacked and his tail was torn off and part of his lips which left his teeth exposed. His right eye area was also cut badly.
Somehow Ranny lived and the neighbor told the people that he was going to shoot him if he came over on their property because he
looked mean. These people did not want Ranny however they didn't;t want to see him die and called S.N.A.S.. A check up quickly
revealed that Ranny was positive for leukemia. He is such a love bug and cuddles up to all the other cats like they are his best friends. I
guess it just goes to show you no matter what we look like, our hearts are filled with love.

Winky came to S.N.A.S. after he was beaten so bad he could not walk. His owners wanted a big bad dog and Winky's heart was only
filled with love. The man hung him from a tree limb and almost beat him to death so it would toughen him up and make him a better guard
dog. Lots of love and special care gave Winky the strength to walk again and become really loving dog with a huge heart. His owners
were charged with cruelty to animals. Start a car up and this boy is in the back seat. He is definitely a cruiser!
Okay now if you want to know the incredible story of Gretta and what she has done to help hungry animals, you'll have to stay on this tour
until we get to the Gretta's Wish program.
Old man Dinky is as old as sliced bread. This old guy is 19 years old. You heard me! Dinky was dumped out by his family after they
learned he had heart issues which can be fixed with medications if only they would not have given up on him. He has been the life of the
party and always captures your attention doing something simple. Like in his later years when he went underneath the recliner while our
Dad was kicked back in it. Dad puts the foot rest back down and goes on his way. During the half hour checks, Dinky was nowhere to
be found. After a quick search in every room revealed nothing, panic was starting to set in. Where was Dinky!!! Maybe he slipped out
the door and was in the yard. A yard search reveals no Dinky. Now everything is fenced in and there is no way he could have gotten
out. As you can imagine tears are now beginning to flow. Calling his name would do no good because he is deaf. Finally a break came
when Tazi started barking at the chair. One hour into the search they tipped the chair up and curled up in a little ball was Dinky sleeping
and had no idea what was going on. Three years later Dinky lost his sight and his favorite thing to do was sleep and eat. Mom would
always take a big blanket and put it in the dryer for him. As soon as she put it down he would curl up on it. He likes being nice and toasty.

Nugget came to S.N.A.S. when she was just five years old. Her owners free fed her and this poor girl weighed 51 lbs. and could hardly
walk without being out of breath. The vet couldn't even hear her heart for fluid and didn't give her any chance to live. A strict diet and
medications for heart issues this girl is slim trim and ready for action. She has befriended Peanut and Pom. Except for the occassional
coughing now and then she is doing great.
Kookie kitty came to S.N.A.S. after his owners found out he had a urinary issues. Okay so nothing that a special bag of food couldn't fix,
however it was easier to dump him off on someone else.
Tiny Tina is was sweet girl that loves to lick you. Her owners got rid of her when they learned she had ring worm and a heart murmur.
Two treatable issues with medications, but her owners felt it best to get rid of the problem and got a new puppy.
Meet the loudest creatures here at the sanctuary. This is Gilbert, Jinny and Einstein. Now not many
times do animals arrive here without their owners, however there is always a first. One morning our
Dad looked out the front window and standing in the yard were three Guinea fowl. He walked out to
the side gate and they ran to him, walked on in and never left. To this day nobody knows where they
came from. Guess they heard the food was good here.
P-Nut was a very special boy that everyone loved. His owners gave him up at ten years old so
they could enjoy their golden years. He came to S.N.A.S. almost a hundred pounds and was the
size of a big Bassett hound. Not quite sure what he was!! He had sever glaucoma and was totally
blind. He sat for days scared and confused until Nugget the Beagle befriended him. He was put
on a diet and lost a lot of weight and now he could actually jump up. He was such the perfect
gentleman as he would push the door open with his nose and stood until his lady Nugget would go
out. She became his eyes and he became her best friend. He would lean on her and she would
lead him around. It was so incredible to see. He became very close to our Mom and loved to lay
beside her while she rubbed his belly. His eyes were removed to relieve his pain and he was so
happy.

Peaches was dumped out from a moving car and the collar she had on had grown into her neck. It
had to be surgically removed. Covered in fleas and ticks this girl was a mess. It took a long time for
her to come around and trust. Today she is so silly and loves to hunt for Bee's. She has to be
closely monitored during outdoor time.
Kahn was twenty years old when she came to us due to her owners death. None of the family
members wanted to take her. She had no teeth and had to have a special blended diet. kahn is a
bit on the grumpy side, but at that age I would be too.
Wild Willie Nelson this here is!!! Dynamite comes in small packages and this is one crazy boy. Willie
was run over by a car and wandered up to a skating rink where there were lots of kids. So many
watched as the kids kicked him knowing he was already injured. A fast thinker called S.N.A.S. and
they rushed to get him. His front leg had been broken and back fracture. He had several deep cuts,
yet he was still wagging his tail. This boy loves everyone and is wild as a deer. One day everyone
went outside except Willie and a busy little bee was he. This little guy tore up quite a boy of stuff and
we told him not to bite the hand that feeds you if you know what I mean. Okay lesson learned you
would think. Four days later second verse, same as the first except this time it was worse. He ate
the blinds in the window, the plant, toilet paper, the couch cushion, pulled stuff off of the shelves. I
think you get the picture. I can tell you that there was no strike three. That's the one lesson learned
the hard way and before the door is shut Willie must be outside or in his kennel. Oh well, the place
needed some redecorating anyways!

Little Miss Foxy is all smiles and it's that smile that got her shot! Yep, you heard me, "SHOT".
Foxy was a wild dog that lived not far from the sanctuary and she would go up to peoples houses and
look for food. A nice couple started feeding her and she stayed around, however when she ventured
across the road to the neighbors house, there was no welcome mat! This man came out and Foxy
smiled at him and with that he ran in and got his gun. OUCH! He shot her in the front chest. Foxy
ran back across the road and hid in the barn and that's when S.N.A.S. was called. Can you believe
that this man shot a dog that weighs about eleven pounds. What was she gonna do, climb up on a
ladder and bite him. It took three months before Foxy would accept being rubbed and now she is a
giant love bug. All she does is smile.
Tweety is a girl that has one speed only and moves so slow mold can grow on her. She loves to sit in
the van and think she's going somewhere. Tweety, her Mom Tasha and sister Babbs came to us
when their owner decided he know longer wanted to own dogs. He turned them into animal control
along with the male Doberman. The male was immediately killed due to being overweight. Wow! What
a reason to have to die. Babbs lost her life to cancer and her Mom is fourteen years old and still
going strong. Tweety has V WD a blood clotting disorder and needs to be very careful not to get cut.
Sunkist was owned by a lady that locked her in a closet for days because she would make her mad.
This was her way of punishment. It took a long time for her to be out with the other kitties and not want
to hide.
What can I say about Baby. This girl was a feral dog that animal control picked up. She spent two
months at the shelter and the staff got attached to her. Just hours before being euthanised, S.N.A.S.
was contacted. Our Dad went to pick her up and she was wagging her tail. Once he put her on the
leash and got out the door, Baby freaked out. He did the one thing you should never do and that was
grab her. It went something like this. He grabbed her and she grabbed him. Yep, several times in the
arm and blood was everywhere. The staff ran out demanding her back to be put down and our Dad
ran her to the van. Having the experience with animals as they do, he knew she was just scared.
Today as you can see Baby has really come around. She will freak out if anything new is in the yard or
something has been moved. She is another one that will benefit from the mentally challenged unit.

Scuds owner no longer wanted him after he had some aggression issues. Once at S.N.A.S. he was
able to work out a lot of his problems and become a very nice boy. One day while walking he fell out in
the yard and was crying. He was rushed to the vet and he had blown a disc in his neck. Now this old
guy was 12 years old and given no chance to ever walk again if he made it through the surgery. He not
only made it through, he walked in two months. Two years later he bloated and twisted really bad to
where it ruptured his spleen. He was given NO chance to live. During surgery he started bleeding
everywhere and his blood was not clotting. It was not good at all. This was one day before Christmas
and we all prayed for a Christmas miracle and that is what we got. This picture is Christmas morning
just hours after his surgery. He got a big teddy bear for Christmas and loved it.

Grey Ghost was a feral kitty that lived in a garage. Some teenage guys went in the garage to torture her
and when one of them grabbed her she bit him really hard. A man next door watched as the one guy
went in the house and got a pistol. Thank goodness she slipped out the back and went into the mans
garage where he shut the door. He called S.N.A.S and they went and set a trap. It took about three
months and Grey Ghost is friendly and loves to be rubbed.
Pretzel was bought as a gift and the family raised her for five months and when they found out she had
crooked toes, they no longer wanted her. This is one sweet chick and she can still scratch in the dirt with
crooked toes!

Please get that tissue now! Tazi was the first rescue from Istanbul, Turkey. A witness watched as she
was hit by a truck and her tiny body hurled to the side of the road. She lay lifeless until a group of
children came up to her and began throwing stones at her. No longer able to watch the lady ran to her
and made them stop. She picked up her tiny blood soaked body and took her to the compound. She lay
for day in agonizing pain and received no medical attention. Her pelvis had been broken and back leg
broken in three places. She had deep cuts on her neck. She lay for days not being able to reach old
bread that was donated by the local hospital. No food, no care, no love yet somehow this girl managed
to hold on. Finally a rescue angel put out a plea for help and S.N.A.S. was the only one to respond. She
made a long flight and once out of the crate she really made our Mom cry. She weighed no more than
30 pounds and her tiny body was a twisted wreck. She jumped right into our Moms arms and made all
kinds of noises. A dog that had no love had so much love to give. Tazi is the life of the sanctuary with
all her crazy ways. She has to stay on medications for her arthritus and is permanently deformed.
